Dr. Alison Blair is a highly experienced consultant anaesthetist with a specialist interest in risk management, peri-operative medicine, CPET testing, and obstetric anaesthesia. Dr. Blair has been providing expert anaesthesia care at Southern Health and Social Care Trust since 2020, drawing on a wealth of experience gained through training in Northern Ireland and North West England.
Dr. Blair graduated from the University of Liverpool in 2009 with a degree in Medicine and Surgery. As a Fellow of the Royal College of Anaesthetists (FRCA), Dr. Blair is deeply committed to advancing anaesthesia practices and improving patient outcomes. With an emphasis on safety and precision, Dr. Blair strives to provide the best possible care to patients undergoing surgery.
Dr. Blair has an extensive career in anaesthesia, providing services across a wide range of specialties, including spinal, general, gynaecological, breast, paediatric, dental, orthopaedic, urological, ENT, and eye surgeries. Since joining Southern Health and Social Care Trust in 2020, Dr. Blair has gained a reputation for expert care and a patient-centered approach to anaesthesia management.
In addition to clinical duties, Dr. Blair has a strong background in medical education and mentoring. Currently, Dr. Blair serves as the Deputy Module Lead for Anaesthesia for Medical Students and is a recognised educational supervisor and GMC trainer.
Previously, Dr. Blair was the Clinical Lead for Obstetric Anaesthesia at Southern Health and Social Care Trust from 2021 to 2024, where she played a pivotal role in enhancing the quality of care in obstetric anaesthesia services.

In her spare time, Dr. Alison Blair is a passionate runner and skier. She also volunteers with Skiability NI, where she coaches athletes with additional needs, helping them learn how to ski. Recently, she had the honor of coaching two athletes who went on to win a total of four gold medals in alpine skiing at the Special Olympics World Games.
