Wellbeing Week (22nd – 26th June) aims to promote an overall awareness for the wide-ranging aspects of wellbeing, including social, physical, emotional, financial, career, community, and environmental wellbeing.
According to the Mental Health Foundaiton, there are 5 Ways to Positive Wellbeing which are Connect, Get Active, Be Mindful, Keep Learning, Give to Others.
Whether you are currently furloughed, working from home or have been continually working, focusing on our wellbeing has never seemed more important as we have had to adapt to changes. Having the knowledge to help your mental health is the first step to taking control of your wellbeing.
Keeping in contact with friends, family and work colleagues is very important for boosting wellbeing. Focusing on strengthening relationships can help you to build a sense of belonging and self-worth and gives you the opportunity to share positive experiences as well as being supporting one another.
Stimulate your brain by discovering new interests, reading books, or taking on a new responsibility at work. Be curious and seek out new adventures, there is always something new to learn in every day.
Being physically active can help raise your self-esteem and mood while decreasing depression and anxiety. Find activities that you enjoy and that you will want to stick to which will then become part of your lifestyle.
Carrying out acts of kindness, whether small or large will increase positive feelings, improve life satisfaction and a general sense of wellbeing. Simple things such as saying thank you for something someone has done for you, supporting friends or family in times of need or volunteering in your local community.
Boost your wellbeing by being in the present moment. Practice mindfulness and pay attention to your thoughts and feelings and to the world around you. Notice the small things that make you smile and do more of that.
