Kingsbridge Steps In To Support NHS

Since July, Kingsbridge Private Hospital in Belfast has been partnering the with the NHS to provide clinical access to use its facility on the Lisburn road.

On foot of the regrettable news yesterday, that each of the health trusts has had to cancel a number of elective surgeries, Kingsbridge Private Hospital Chief Executive, Mark Regan, has proactively engaged with the HSC in recent days to explore how the hospital can act as a release valve for some of this surgery. 
 
“We have already increased our existing offering to the NHS to include in excess of 40 operating sessions in our main and day case theatres in January, which builds on the capacity we offered back during the first wave when we undertook complex cancer surgery in areas such as Thoracic, Gynae, spinal and general surgery” he explained.  
 
“The theatres and beds will be staffed by a dedicated team of Kingsbridge nurses and healthcare assistants, while the surgeons will travel from the NHS Trusts.  
 
“Kingsbridge is committed to supporting and partnering the NHS as much as is reasonably possible and we have to make clear that in making space available for these urgent NHS patients, a number of private patients have had their surgery postponed and we wish to thank them for their understanding.
 
“I also want to recognise the front line Kingsbridge staff that have been working round the clock to ensure that both private and NHS elective surgery has been able to continue in earnest since the start of this pandemic by creating an environment whereby colleague and patient safety is at the heart of everything we do.  Without the ongoing dedication of our multidisciplinary teams and their commitment to quality clinical care, none of this would have been possible.
 
“It is vital that we all work together to save lives in these unprecedented times and we are determined to bring the excellence we have in staff and facilities to those most in need.”
